About

Geordie Theatre aims to entertain, provoke thought, fire up the imagination, and to challenge our audience. We celebrate the art of theatre and its impact by working with emerging and established professional artists from various disciplines and cultural backgrounds to create works that are provocative, relevant and enchanting; inspiring dialogue between communities, children and parents as well as teachers and students of all ages. We are committed to developing and adding new excellent works for Theatre For Young Audiences to the Canadian canon. We look to build relationships with and extend our audience through inclusive practices and by visiting far away communities in Quebec and abroad.

Geordie Theatre is a professional theatre company that has been presenting live English theatre for young audiences since 1980. Pushing artistic boundaries with provocative and important stories, Geordie delivers more than 200 performances each season.

Geordie's annual seven month 2Play Tour (the longest in Canada) makes its way across Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick, visiting schools, libraries and community centres. Geordie annually visits such communities as the Eastern Townships, the Lower North Shore, the Gaspé, the Magdalen Islands, the Abitibi, the Outaouais and James Bay. Often, our shows are the only theatre these communities are exposed to.

Through Geordie's Mainstage Series, an annual season of plays for family audiences presented in downtown Montreal, the company continues to open up new worlds for the young and young at heart. Geordie offers exciting, insightful theatre that is sure to enchant, educate and entertain!

Geordie believes in fostering young voices from all backgrounds through the power of theatre. Through the popular Geordie Theatre School (GTS), children and teens have the opportunity to build a solid foundation in acting taught by exceptional professional artists where the fundamentals of Confidence, Creativity, and Craft are central to our teaching philosophy.

Geordie Theatre is a member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (P.A.C.T.), the Quebec Drama Federation, and La Maison Théâtre. GEORDIE PRODUCTIONS INC. is a registered non-profit charitable organization (ref. #118936962RR001)
